Human enhancement at the cost of what?
 | The world is teetering on the brink of disaster and because of one and one reason only, human enhancement. While in itself this may not be reason enough but coupled with our utter disregard for the good of the environment around us, it has become a threatening mixture indeed. The burgeoning population is the fuel which fires the coming destruction all the more. The industries which manufacture goods for the consumption of the masses let tons of hazardous waste into our surrounding environment each and every day. Both the water bodies and the climate suffer irreparably. Even all the measures that the environmentalists and conscious governments are implementing are doing precious little to curb the geosecurity issues. This is utter foolishness on our part. Just because we cannot see it with our eyes does not mean that the problem does not exist. The forest cover is dwindling at an alarming rate and the wildlife simply does not exist outside the sanctuaries. Everyday some or other biosecurity comes up which makes us sit up and take notice. |
How human enhancement is increasing the environmental problems?
The inventions in science and technology is easing out our lives and making it more and more advanced in every way. Newer constructions are coming up to give better security and living spaces to people. This boom in architectural sectors on one hand is given rise to concrete jungles and on the other taking up the space which should have been left to nature. The evidence of human enhancement is present all around us. But this does not mean that we have become better in taking care of our fellow creatures.
Enhancement is not synonymous with awareness and this is where the problem lies. The majority of us want to live in the lap of luxury and enjoy whatever the evolved technology has up for grabs. But this does not need that we are ready to give the required contribution for the good of the mother earth. Geosecurity is crucial for the survival of the human species and this should be understood clearly. We need to save the flora and the fauna for the greater good of mankind. And for that the main requirement is the embracing of products which are environmentally friendly.
The need for coexistence
It is entirely wrong to think that man and nature cannot coexist. After all this is what our forefathers have done and many tribes in the Amazonian jungles and such farther reaches of the earth still do. Going back to nature never means that we should forget all about how far we have come from being cavemen.
